Creative Soul Care

The creative process of art making can improve and enhance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of individuals. It is not about knowing and controlling the end product but rather exploring body awareness, thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, relational dynamics and circumstances that bring forth deeper awareness and truth finding. Creative Soul Care is a combination of training in knowledge and techniques from Therapeutic Art Techniques, Process Healing Art, Behavioral Cognitive Change methods, Trust-Based Relational Intervention, Spiritual Direction and Grief Counseling. CSC is facilitated by prompts, exercises, and questions from your facilitator, April Robinson, using a variety of mixed media. The result of your creation will reflect what’s happening in your body, heart, mind and spirit. This form of creative supportive counseling often sheds new light on thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that can stem from unhealed wounds or traumatic experiences. CSC assists in gaining clarity and peace as one bears witness to life’s experiences and challenges, often leading to deeper understanding, healing and growth. No art experience is needed and all faith journey’s are welcome and respected.

What People are staying about Creative Soul Care ~

“I did not know much about therapeutic art before working with April, other than a few broken memories of drawing and coloring as a child who’s parents were divorcing and I was in counseling. When I contacted April at Soulful Art Studio, I was stuck, frustrated, wounded and did not know what to do. Full of anxiety I showed up and was quickly calmed by the beautiful, quaint physical space in the Studio making it both welcoming and warm. Through my sessions, April's gifts were clearly on display. She is kind, patient and holds emotional space for you to process through what has been buried deep inside your soul. April uses proven methods, wise discernment and, if desired, an added spiritual element to fully work through trauma, grief, loss, and more. She is helping me to unwind the negative untrue stories spoken over me that I’ve believed about myself. She provides the space and grace for me to be seen and known in my most messy, vulnerable, raw form. The guidance and insight I’ve gained from Creative Soul Care session has been vital in this important healing journey of mine!”  Cd’A Area Resident

“Attending my first Process Art Group Workshop was the beginning of my journey toward seeing art as a way to emotional  healing. Then I decided to begin Creative Soul Care sessions which have been a great blessing to me. The Studio is a safe place to open yourself to self-care and healing. April’s exceptional guidance and prompts led me to trust there is a purpose in exploring my emotions which I was good at stuffing. The exercises of writing, drawing and painting is part of the work but the objective is not being an artist or producing an art piece.  The benefits for me have been understanding and allowing expression and healing of pain, leading to positive change in emotional, relational and physical health. Having neck, shoulder and back stiffness/pain go away has been a surprising benefit of Creative Soul Care. I am so much lighter in heart for the experience.” Rathdrum Resident
